Initially studying textile design, with a specialism in weaving, at Winchester School of Art, more recently Jo Lambert attended a course at East Side Print in Brighton that prompted excitement in screen printing and re-energised her creativity.
Jo is inspired to make screen printsĀ on paper and fabric that explore the intersections of line, shape and colour. As with weaving on the loom, Jo regularly works within the constraints of the square, aiming to create a sense of texture and movement within the vertical and the horizontal plane.
Abstract, geometric prints are inspired by the incredible palette of light and colour generated by the sun, the sea, and the sky, on the south coast. These are developed from paper collages and papercut stencils, celebrating the joy and vibrancy of colour.
