Katja's work is largely inspired by nature but she is also fond of a good quote or quirky proverb. Because of this her paper prints often have an illustrative quality, with a common thread of positivity, humour and lots of colour running through them.
Katja studied Fine Art at De Montfort University in Leicester, gaining her Degree in 1998. Despite focusing primarily on printmaking she only discovered screenprinting after taking a course with Cath Bristow in 2015. Since then she has been screenprinting on both paper and fabric using mainly papercut stencils.
Katja also handprints organic cotton t-shirts and sweatshirts with her own designs, selling
her work online, at makers markets and in a variety of independent shops.
