Mig Gilbert is an artist printmaker who lives and works in Brighton.
Having grown up on the Norfolk Broads, she moved away from the slow pace of the countryside to study fine art in the industrial Midlands in the early 2000s. There she developed a passion for screen print and her escape from the country spawned a fascination with the urban environment and concept of anonymity within large crowds.
Mig’s art reflects on the small differences that give cities their own alluring character. She collates a record of these variations within her art, which also allows her to indulge her other passion, travel. To Mig, street furniture, signage and everyday detritus are as important as celebrated architecture. Mig utilises the screen printing process to create reimagined windows into the city.
