Tania was born in London and trained at Middlesex University and Loughborough College of Art and Design in the UK. She has worked across fashion and textiles, rug designs before concentrating on painting. Tania was represented by a Parisienne Gallery Envied’Art for almost a decade and now works primarily through private commissions.
Her work draws heavily on street iconography of different cities or towns capturing vintage shop facades, graffiti, typography and key shops and cafes that bring a distinct local flavour to her work. Collecting paraphernalia; scraps of paper, newspapers, tickets from daily travels are added to her work creating an authentic sense of place with a feeling of age and distress to mark passing of time.
The working process involves photography, pen and ink drawing and collage, sketching in pen and ink and these drawings are used to layer on her work using screen printing. She layers each piece using different techniques: mono printing, collage, screen printing and painting.
