About the course

Create eco printed fabric using found materials, oak gall and iron in a magical process full of surprises! On this one-day course you will learn how to make eco prints onto fabric using oak gall and iron using the ‘iron blanket’ technique. Oak gall is an indigenous natural dye that can be modified or ‘saddened’ by iron to produce a range of blue spectrum colours through to black, and the iron blanket technique allows for prints from leaves and plant materials to be incorporated into the process. By the end of the day you will have eco dyed fabric with your own designs, made from foraged materials, to take home. All materials provided. On this course you will: Learn the process of ‘iron blanket’ eco printing onto fabric Mix and experiment with the reactive qualities of oak gall and iron Forage for found natural materials to use in the printing process. Design and capture your print Discover ways to build on ideas and results Tutor: Jane Fox
