About the course
With a focus on natural dyes this immersive summer school will look at a variety of approaches to printing, dyeing and painting onto fabric and paper. We will use natural dye extracts, dried plant material and seasonal plants to make natural dye printing inks; screenprint onto fabric and paper; make printing blocks for blockprinting onto fabric; use alkali, acid and iron modifiers to alter the colour palette; print and paint designs onto fabric with mordant pastes before dyeing; create cyanotypes toned with natural dyes. The summer school has a loose structure enabling participants to dip in and out of techniques or focus on a particular area. At the end of the week you will have samples and a written record of your natural dye printing inks, as well as your screen and block printed fabrics and papers. All Materials included. Cancellation Policy
Course cancellations need to be made 28 days in advance via email for a refund and will be subject to a £10 administration fee. Cancellations after this period will be subject to an administration charge of 50% of the course fee. Short notice cancellations made 7 days or less before the start of the course are non-refundable. If you cannot attend a course but have a friend or colleague that can take your place instead then there will be no admin fee for transferring the place.
